THE SUN HOTEL ACCESS STATEMENT
Approach to the Hotel
The Sun Hotel provides free ample parking for resident & diners. This car park is approximately a 20m to 50m walk dependant on parking position.
Due to National Park & Planning restriction the car park is not lit and there is no street lighting in the area if you are arriving during the hours of darkness a torch is advisable.
The car park is currently in need of some repair work. Quotes are currently being sort. It is advised that care is taken when walking across the car park.
There is a dropped kerb leading onto the foot path outside the hotel.
There are no parking restrictions on the road directly outside the hotel however great care is needed as this is a busy road.

Entry to Hotel
The front of the building is well lit and free from obstruction. There are table & chairs at the front of the building but there is plenty of manoeuvrability around these.
There are double doors which are continually open during opening times. There is then a wide inner door which opens outwards for direct access.
Main dining area
The main dining area is access to wheel chair users and tables are high enough to get wheelchairs sat at the table.
There are no steps within the main dining area.
Where there is a change in floor level this is ramped and a change in floor covering denotes these ramps.
All menus and price lists are clearly visible with a minimum font size of 10.
All staff are happy to read or explain menus to customers with sight or reading limitations.
Ladies Toilets
There are not step and access is clear.
Toilets are well lit.
The main door into the toilets is wheel chair accessible but the doors into the cubicles are not wide enough to get a wheelchair through and the is insufficient space within the cubicle for wheel chairs.
There are no grab rails in the toilets but walls are narrow enough to use for support & leverage.
There are no dropped hand basins.
Gents toilets
These are access through 2 doors which open inwards, before the second door there is a step that conforms to the normal rise of building regulations. The step is properly designed in good condition and is edged in highlighter tape.
Toilets are well lit.
These doors are wide enough to get a standard sized wheelchair through.
Once in the toilets there is plenty of space to manoeuvre a wheelchair around the urinals but you cannot get a wheelchair into the individual cubicles.
There are no dropped hand basins.
Means of escape
There is a visible as well as an audible fire alarm system.
Fires exits are accessible to all including wheelchairs
Access to bedrooms
All bedrooms are on the first or second floor. We do not have any ground floor rooms.
There are 2 access by stair one from inside the building the other from the outside at the rear of the building.
All treads and risers conform to current building regulations
The main staircase inside the building has eleven risers to a mini landing followed by a further three risers.
There is a handrail on the right hand side of the staircase.
On the top landing there is a fire door that opens towards you.
There are 4 bedrooms which are accessible without any further step, another 2 bedrooms that have 1 additional step, further 3 bedrooms with a further 2 steps and a final room that has another flight of 14 stairs (second floor).
The exterior staircase has 14 risers and a right hand rail.
None of the bedrooms have been specifically adapted for disabled use.
En-suites
There are 2 rooms which have a step into the en-suite.
One room has a shower over the bath the remaining rooms have walk-in showers.
